MABv – Muzeul de Artă Brașov

You wouldn’t expect to see a lot of Grigorescu’s paintings in Transylvania but here is an open secret – they adorn the sleepy Brasov Art Museum in very good measure. Included in this superb collection of Romania art are also Tonitza, Tuculescu, Pallady, Luchian, Baba and the spirit of modernism that doesn’t always fit the location. However great the works they seem to deserve more, demand more, need more – space, audience and context. Before visiting Paris a visit here is more than worth the very affordable ticket and it could change your perspective on Romanian life.
